BACP-Protokoll

Das Bandwidth Allocation Control Protocol (BACP) ist ein Protokoll zur automatischen Bandbreitenskalierung von Verbindungen. Das BACP-Protokoll ist ein begleitendes Protokoll für die Steuerung des Bandwidth Allocation Protocols ( BAP).

Das BACP-Protokoll wird durch das Point to Point Protocol ( PPP) aktiviert und kann während einer bestehenden Verbindung über das BAP-Protokoll weitere Kanäle den Anwendungen zuordnen oder entfernen. Das mit dem BACP-Protokoll zusammen arbeitende BAP-Protokoll übernimmt dabei die Skalierung des Bandbreitenbedarfs auf der Verbindung.

Im Falle von ISDN, kann das BACP-Protokoll bis zu 30 Kanäle zusammenschalten und bis zu 480 Kanäle verwalten. Das BACP-Protokoll wurde von der Internet Engineering Task Force ( IETF) spezifiziert und ist in RFC 2125 beschrieben.
