5G WiFi

The 802.11acWLAN standard operates in the 5 GHz band. The standard supports data rates of several gigabits and is also referred to as 5GWiFi in reference to the 5th generation mobile networks.

The data rates of 5G WiFi are over 1 Gbit/s, depending on the number of streams.

To use 5G Wifi, clients such as desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones and the routers must support the IEEE standard 802.11ac. Upgrading existing devices is possible via plug-in cards with PCI Express or other plug-in cards.
