The ARI information service is a traffic information service broadcast on VHF radio. This broadcast service with traffic announcements is transmitted via an auxiliary carrier of 57 kHz in the corresponding VHF band.
The traffic radio signals - these are, in addition to the traffic messages with the announcement identifier(DK), signals for the transmitter identifier( SK) and the area identifier(BK) - are transmitted in amplitude modulation.
In this process, each transmitter with traffic radio broadcasts the carrier signal of 57 kHz for the transmitter identifier; in addition, the carrier frequency for the regional identifier (BK) is modulated with one of six low-frequency signals between 23 Hz and 54 Hz, depending on the region and for the identifier (DK) of the traffic announcement with a signal of 125 Hz.
