AT attachment packet interface (PC) (ATAPI)

The AT Attachment Packet Interface (ATAPI) is a standardized parallel interface designed to connect to Advanced Technology Attachment( ATA) for storage devices such as hard disks, CD drives, or DVD drives.

ATAPI uses SCSI-likecommands to drive non- hard disk drives such as streamers, CD drives and DVD drives. The ATAPI interface was standardized by the Small Form Factor Committee. The ATA standard supports cable lengths up to 50 cm, but ATA cables with cable lengths up to 1 m are available.
