Bluetooth special interest group (BSIG)

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (BSIG) is made up of leading telecommunications, networking, computing and automotive technology companies and is dedicated to promoting Bluetooth technology.

The associated and active members of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (BSIG) include many thousands of companies, including Agere, Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Motorola, Nokia and Toshiba.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group is involved in the standardization of Bluetooth, as well as ultra-wideband( UWB), near- field communication( NFC), and Wibree, which is known at SIG as Ultra Low Power Bluetooth( ULP) and later as Bluetooth Low Energy ( BLE). The BLE version corresponds to Bluetooth 4.0 and is also referred to as Bluetooth Smart or Bluetooth Smart Ready.

In the Bluetooth 5 version, which was introduced at the beginning of 2017, the BSIG Group has quadrupled the range compared to Bluetooth 4.0 and doubled the data rate.
