CAPI V2.0 interface

With version 2.0 of the Common Application Programming Interface(CAPI), which was standardized in 1994, both the performance features of the interface were improved and the dependencies on national ISDN specifics were eliminated. Version 2.0 was developed for Euro-ISDN and therefore supports the DSS1 protocol.

The following Layer 1 B channel protocols are supported: 64 kbit/s bit-transparent, with HDLC framing, HDLC with Non Return to Zero Inverted( NRZ-I), synchronous and asynchronous transmissions and 56 kbit/s bit-transparent. In addition, V.110 asynchronous as start-stop operation and V.110 synchronous with HDLC framing as well as T.30 for fax group 3. In layer 2, the following protocols are supported in addition to the version 1.1 protocols: LAP-D according to Q.921, Point to Point Protocol( PPP) and T.30 for fax. In layer 3, the following are also supported: X.25DCE, T.90NL, which is compatible with T.70NL, and T.30 for fax group 3.

Drivers with which both CAPI versions (1.1 and 2.0) are supported are called dual-capi.
