Comité Europeen de Normalisation (CEN)

The European standards organization Comité Européen de Normalisation (CEN) in Brussels, Belgium, is made up of the national standards organizations of all European countries, in Germany it is Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V.(DIN), and is the official institution of the European Union for European standards(EN).

The aim of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is the adaptation or adoption of international standards and thus the promotion and harmonization of technical specifications. The CEN Standards Institute cooperates with globally active standardization bodies and the standardization bodies of the individual European countries. Harmonization serves to remove barriers to trade, safety and interoperability of systems and services.

CEN works in partnership with CENELEC and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute( ETSI).
