Continua Health Alliance

The Continua Health Alliance is a non-profit industry consortium founded in 2006 and dedicated to healthcare.

The goal of the Continua Health Alliance is to establish interoperability between different medical devices so that medical data can be collected, transmitted, and exchanged between them as part of telemedicine using different measurement devices.

As part of this work, Continua has developed design rules for medical device manufacturers. In this context, Continua is promoting the Bluetooth Health Device Profile( HDP) as a transport protocol for the IEEE11073 data exchange protocol and the Personal Health Data( PHD). The combination of the HDP profile and 11073 ensures interoperability between different medical devices.
