ESD control program (ESDCP)

The ESD Control Program (ESDCP) describes internal company measures for the prevention of electrostatic discharges (ESD). It is used to protect components, assemblies, boards and equipment from electrostatic discharges and to increase the company's profitability by reducing failures.

ESD control programs include all measures that serve to protect vulnerable components, the Electrostatic Sensitive Devices (ESD), corresponding chips and assemblies. This includes the packaging and unpacking of components and the materials used for them, the flooring, the design of workstations for which an Electrostatic Protected Area( EPA) should be created, the earth potential reference surfaces( ERP) and the grounding of workstations, rooms and buildings.

An ESD Control Program is also ultimately used to meet customer requirements for ISO 9000. There are various ESD control programs available, but they must be tailored to your own requirements. In addition, the standards of the ESDA are very helpful for the implementation of an ESD Control Program.
