Electronic Commerce Act
The Electronic Commerce Act (EGG) sets the legal framework for e-commerce in Germany. It is one of the central provisions of Internet law. German legislation thus implements the requirements of the European E-Commerce Directive of June 8, 2000. The Act primarily amended the Teleservices Act(TDG) and the Teleservices Data Protection Act(TDDSG). The EGG has been in force in Germany since December 21, 2001.
