European messaging

Euromessage is a European paging service that builds on existing paging services. The aim of the Euromessage activities was to interconnect the various national systems in Europe and to be able to transmit all three call classes from one country to another.

To this end, France with the Alphapage system, Germany with Cityruf, Great Britain with Euromessage and Italy with Teledrin had joined forces and concluded corresponding agreements. In Germany, a second Cityruf frequency of 466.075 MHz was used for this purpose, which is used exclusively for Euromessage. Since the Cityruf receivers are single- channel receivers, new terminals are required for Euromessage. There are therefore receivers that can receive both systems, i.e., are suitable for both Cityruf and Euromessage, and others that support only one system.

In terms of network structure, the two systems are separated via a gateway, which is used to reach the international call region with its own call number. The input of messages by the calling subscriber is done via the order service or by means of direct input via Btx pages.
