German commercial Internet exchange (DE-CIX)
DE- CIX(German Commercial Internet Exchange) is the central German Internet node for international connections. It was founded in 1995 in Frankfurt/M by EUnet, Xlink and MAZ and is one of the largest Internet nodes worldwide.
The data volume via switching computers of DE-CIX doubles annually, as do the connected Internet Service Providers(ISPs). In 2010, there were about 350 from 40 different countries.
The DE-CIX infrastructure is redundant and located on several parallel running data centers in the Frankfurt area. The maximum data throughput is 40 Tbit/s.
