The H.245 protocol standardized by the International Telecommunication Union( ITU) negotiates terminal functions in H.323 networks, the control of logical connections for the transmission of audio data, flow control and the transmission of other control messages.
In the case of terminal functions, H.245 handles the setting of the voice coding method, which must be identical to the compression method.
