Hi8 video

Hi8 is based on Video-8, but works with separated video, the S-Video or Y/C-Video, with separate luminance signals (Y) and chrominance signal (C).

Due to the higher luminance resolution and bandwidth of Hi8 compared to Video-8, this system has higher image sharpness and color resolution. The vertical resolution of Hi8, which derives its name from Highband, is up to 430 lines.

The Hosiden connector is used for separate transmission of the luminance and chrominance signals. Digital-8 is the further development of Hi8.
