IEEE 11073 (medical)
The IEEE 11073 standard specifies a data exchange format for medical data in the form of PersonalHealth Data( PHD). It describes how medical data is packaged and labeled. This labeling enables the receiving device to assign and analyze the data. In addition to medical data, 11073 also includes time stamps and formatting information.
The 11073 standard consists of many sub-standards for the various medical measurements of pulse oximeters (11073-10404), blood pressure (11073-10407), body temperature, weight, blood glucose, fitness, electrocardiogram, medication monitoring, and several more. In 11073-20601, the framework is covered with the generic data types, message formats and communication models.
Among others, the IEEE 11073 data exchange format is used in Bluetooth Health Device Profile( HDP), a Bluetooth profile for patient monitoring. Thus for cardiac and circulatory functions and for monitoring blood glucose levels.
