IP datacast (DVB-H) (IPDC)

IP Datacast ( IPDC) is an IP-based service used to transmit video, audio, and data over broadband systems. During transmission, the data is encapsulated in an IP data stream. If the data is television data, then it is also referred to as Internet television( IPTV).

IP-Datacast was specified as an open standard and is regarded as a counterpart to the proprietary approaches used, for example, in DigitalMultimedia Broadcast( DMB) and MediaFLO. IP-Datacast forms the adaptation layer in the protocol stack ofDVB-H and supports interactive services and program navigation between services. It is used by both DVB-H and Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service( MBMS) to transmit the TV channels and other multimedia content to the TV cell phone.
