ISDN consumer device

All terminals that have an S0 interface areISDN-capable. Older terminals that were used on the analog telephone network or in the Datex networks can be connected to the S0 interface via terminal adapters.

Devices for the analog telephone network such as telephones, modems, group 2 and 3 fax machines have a/b interfaces. In addition, there are data terminals with V.24 interfaces. Data terminals for the Datex networks have the X.21 interface(Datex-L) or X.25 for networks with data packet switching. All these terminals become ISDN-capable terminals via corresponding terminal adapters that are connected directly to the S0 bus.
