Internet access provider (IAP)

An Internet Access Provider ( IAP) is the access network operator to the Internet. It provides the user with line capacity and services that are exclusively related to Internet access.

Internet access providers provide access nodes for the Internet with their switching nodes, the points of presence ( PoP), to which customers can connect their computers via leased lines or modem links.

In addition to Internet access providers, there are various other Internet providers, such as Internet service providers(ISPs), application service providers(ASPs), network service providers (NSPs), communication service providers(CSPs), and Internet presence providers (IPPs) for Web sites.
