Internet message support protocol (IMSP)

The Internet Message Support Protocol (IMSP) is a messaging protocol for communication between different instant messaging systems, similar to the IMAP protocol.

The IMSP protocol facilitates the management of e-mail networks and client access to messaging services. Corresponding systems work with IMSP servers on which e-mails are managed and which provide a directory of all mailboxes present in the network.

IMSP was renamed Application Control Access Protocol( ACAP) after standardization by the Internet Engineering Task Force( IETF) and, in contrast to Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), has filtering options, its own settings and mechanisms for data reconciliation.
