Java management extension (JMX)

The JMX technology enables the management of Java programs while they are running. This includes, above all, monitoring the current status, but also reconfiguration in the case of appropriately designed applications. This capability has a very special meaning in environments where many Java programs are executed simultaneously and may not be stopped and restarted at will.

However, with the Java Management Extension (JMX) this only works on a local computer, to manage remotely executed programs there is the JMX Remote API.
