Manchester encoding

With Manchester coding, the binary information is represented by voltage changes within the bit time. This makes it much easier to synchronize the transmitter and receiver because the transition in the middle of the bit time results in a reliable clock.

The first half of the bit time contains the representation of the complementary bit value to be transmitted, the second half represents the bit value (specified for IEEE 802.3Ethernet).

Manchester coding

Manchester coding represents an XOR operation of the clock signal and the NRZ codedsignal, where a doubling of the frequency takes place. Another Manchester coding is the differential Manchester coding.
