PC8 code

The PC8 code is an ASCII character set that has been extended by an eighth bit, the Most Significant Bit( MSB).

The encodable representation range for the PC8 code is 256 characters. The extension of the character set is used for the encoding of country-specific special characters.

With the ASCII character set, the eighth bit can be used for parity checking. However, such a check can also be carried out with the PC8 code during data transmission, whereby the sender or the receiver determines the corresponding bit.
