Panda-Wegener

In order to use as little bandwidth as possible for sound transmissionduring satellitetransmission ofanalog TV and digital TV, the sound modulated in frequency modulation must be compressed in its frequency deviation.

The Panda-Wegener method is used for this compression of the audio signal on the transmitter side and for decompression on the receiver side. This method compresses the frequency deviation and has the advantage that the audio subcarriers do not interfere with each other, thus avoiding intermodulation interference as far as possible.

At the same time, the high frequencies are boosted before transmission, which helps to improve the signal-to- noise ratio( SNR).
