Profibus fieldbus message specification (Profibus-FMS)

With Profibus-FMS(ProfibusFieldbusMessage Specification), Profibus offers a variant for universal communication tasks based on the former Manufacturing Automation Protocol ( MAP) and the Manufacturing Message Specifications ( MMS). The FMS variant supports cyclic and anti-cyclic data traffic. However, the variant, which was already standardized in 1990, is losing ground to Profibus-DP.
