QDesign

QDesign, named after the company of the same name, is an audio compression for QuickTime. QDesign relies on a model of psychoacoustics.

QDesign's audio compression is based on Parametric Stereo( PS), in which audio signals are parametrically captured, decomposed into components, and the results are stored as coefficients.

There are several QDesign compression formats: QDesign Music and QDesign Music 2 Pro( QDX), which are used in QuickTime. QDX works with data rates of 64 kbit/s, has a higher sound quality than MP3 and copy protection.
