T30
The ITU-T recommendation T.30 is the fax protocol in which the functions within the first three layers for fax of fax group 3 with a data rate between 2.4 kbit/s and 33.6 kbit/s are specified.
T.30 supports the connection setup and teardown specified in V.8 or V.29 as well as the transmission ofBidldata according to T.4 and error correction according to V.42. Fax transmission can take place between fax machines, fax modems, fax cards and fax servers.
The T.30 protocol was later extended by the possibilities of remote inquiry, password protection and "faxing with personal computer" with the Binary File Transfer( BFT) data field for sub-addresses. Encapsulation of the fax protocol and transmission over IP networks is covered in ITU Recommendation T.38.
