adapter fault tolerance (AFT)
Adapter Fault Tolerance (AFT) is a software component ofnetwork cards that allows network connections to be restored without user or administrator access. A server equipped with two network cards continues to provide a fault-tolerant, redundantconnection to the network if one link fails. The second, redundant network card assumes the identity of the first card, including the MAC address and IP address.
