advanced data link controller (ADLC)

Advanced Data LinkController (ADLC) is a compression algorithm developed by IBM and used in tape drives such as the DTF drive that features a high compression ratio of 2.6:1, compared to other compression methods that achieve 2:1 compression. By using ADLC, much more data can be stored on the magnetic tapes than with other methods.
