attention profiling markup language (APML)
Attention Profiling Markup Language (APML) is a description language for attention profiling, that is, for the activities and preferences of a web user.
The APML description language, defined by the W3C consortium, is designed to capture the preferences, tastes, interests, and dislikes of Web users. It is the first approach to recognize and evaluate user behavior for the semantic Web referred to as Web 3.0.
Like OPML, attention profiles created with APML can be shared via newsreaders. The goal is to package all usable profiling data into a portable file format. APML is based on Extensible Markup Language(XML) and is designed to capture likes and dislikes.
Profiling user behavior is a first step towards intelligent web browsing.
