basic telecommunications access method (BTAM)

The Basic Telecommunications Access Method (BTAM) was one of the first host-resident control programs for IBM System/360. BTAM supported sending and receiving data over data lines and was used to manage remote communication interfaces for host applications.

Later IBM specified higher level interfaces for the SNA architecture instead of BTAM with QTAM and VTAM.
