binary code decimal interchange code (BCDIC)

The Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code (BCDIC) is a code developed by IBM for the representation of alphanumeric and numeric character in computers.

The BCDIC code originated from the BCD code. It is a seven- digit code whose character set includes the 26 letters of the alphabet, the digits 0 to 9, and some special characters. The eight-character Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code( EBCDIC) has evolved from the seven-characterBCDIC code.
