binaural sound pressure level (BSPL)

The binaural sound pressure level (BSPL) is an acoustic parameter. It is made up of the sum of two sound pressures that hit the listener's left and right ear.

The binaural sound pressure level is calculated from the logarithm of the sum of the two sound pressures. Like the normal sound pressure level, the binaural sound pressure level is expressed in decibels( dB).

The artificial head known from artificial head stereophony is used as the measuring device, since it imitates the human head. The binaural sound pressure is used, for example, for sound reinforcement measurements in halls, opera houses and concert halls.
