block check sequence (BCS)

A block check sequence (BCS) is a binary string added to the data block, which is used for error detection during code-transparent data transmission or code-independent data transmission. For example, the cyclic block check method is used to form the block check string. Comparable error detection methods are Frame Check Sequence( FCS) and Block Check Character( BCC).
