blu-ray disc movie (BDMV)

The Blu-Ray Disc Movie (BDMV) differs from the Blu-Ray Disc AudioVideo(BDAV) by the copy protection. The BD Movie is recorded with movies in professional studios and targets the end customer who plays the BDMV on his BD recorder.

The BDMV supports three BD profiles and offers menu controlin addition to audio and video. Video is compressed using Advanced Video Coding( AVC), Video Codec 1( VC-1) or MPEG-2, while audio is compressed using Linear Pulse CodeModulation ( LPCM), Digital Theatre Sound( DTS) and various Dolby processes such as Dolby Digital and Dolby TrueHD.

Video can be played back in HD quality, High Definition, or Standard Definition( SD).
