building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV)

Most of the photovoltaic systems used in private houses are those mounted on the pitched or flat roof. They consist of a basic structure into which the solar modules are inserted and fixed.

The situation is different with Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV), where the photovoltaic systems are part of the building and are integrated into the facade or roof. They can be inserted as functional elements and take on additional functions, for example as thermal insulation, visual protection or sound insulation. In addition, they can enrich the exterior facade as design, architectural and aesthetic elements or be designed in color and shape like classic roof tiles. Thin-film solar cells or tandem solar cells are particularly suitable for building integration.
