caddy
A caddy is a protective box for compact discs( CD) and DVDs; a plastic protective cover with a metallic opening.
The storage media are inserted into the caddy before it is inserted into a CD recorder or DVD player. When the caddy is inserted, its metal protection opens and the laser can directly access the inserted optical storage medium. There are only a few CD recorders that work with the caddy system.
In electroacoustic systems, a caddy is a sturdy transport box or cage used primarily for transporting cable harnesses and cable reels.
