call packet

The call packet is a type of packet map of a connection-oriented data packet switch.

The call packet contains all addresses, special features, routing information, etc. and is sent before the data packets. The data packets following the call packet contain only a small header and the user data.

The request on the part of a terminal device to the network is the call request, the transmission of a connection request from the network to the terminal device is called incoming call. When a virtual connection is established, a logical channel is assigned to such a connection. The data packets that follow are assigned to this connection on the basis of the channel number.
