capacity digital converter (sensor) (CDC)

Capacity to Digital Converter (CDC) is a converter that converts capacities to voltages and is based on the sigma-delta converter method.

In the CDC method, an unknown capacitance takes the place of the unknown voltage and is converted into a digital value. The method is used, among other things, in the determination of capacitances and in capacitive sensors to generate a control signal from a small change in capacitance.

The CDC converter works with a reference capacitance, which it compares with an unknown capacitance. For this comparison, both capacitances are charged with the same voltage or with two known voltages and the charge curves are compared.
