charging pulse

The charge pulse is transmitted in analog telephone networks( PSTN) to determine the connection and call costs. Indigitally operating networks and mobile networks such as ISDN, UMTS or GSM networks, on the other hand, the Advice of Charge( AoC) is used.

With the charge pulse, the connection costs are transmitted to the caller and displayed in the charge display of the telephone or PBX during the call. The charge pulse is a tone signal that is transmitted at every time pulse. Since its frequency in Germany is 16 kHz, it is not audible to the call participants or is only perceived as an annoying crackling noise. It has a pulse duration of 80 ms.
