Collocation areas or rooms are segregated areas in a data center or exchange that house a customer's or another carrier's equipment.
In public networks, collocation space is used for the installation and operation of technical equipment from different subscriber network operators. It is a separate room located within an exchange that can be used by all operators. The leased usage area, the collocation area, is identified by markings on the floor.
