commitment, concurrency, and recovery service element (OSI) (CCRSE)

Commitment, Concurrency, and Recovery Service Element (CCRSE) is an application layerservice element and defines utilities for implementing distributed transactions in the OSI environment. A distributed transaction occurs through the interaction of multiple application processes.

The CCRSE ensures that the operations of a transaction are not interfered with by other transactions and that the operations of a transaction complete or, if this is not possible, the operations are rolled back. This is particularly important for maintaining the consistency of distributed data sets.

The CCRSE element is specified in ISO 9804 and 9805 of the International Standards Organization (ISO).
