common interleaved frame (DAB) (CIF)

The DigitalAudio Broadcast(DAB) user data stream, the Main Service Channel( MSC), has an additional channel for the Common Interleaved Frames( CIF) in addition to the actual user data stream.

The CIF channel has a duration of 24 ms and can be split in size for the different services and assigned to the service components. The channel assignment can be done in stream mode or packetized. In stream mode, the complete transmission capacity of the CIF channel is allocated to a service. In contrast, several services are transmitted simultaneously in packetized mode.
