common user access (CUA)

Common User Access (CUA) are SAA specifications for a uniform user interface that provides consistent viewing across application platforms. CUA was specified by IBM in the 1980s and works with a menu bar attached to the top of the screen as well as with expandable menus familiar from Windows. Many of the graphical representations and icons implemented in Common User Access can be found in a similar form in Windows.
