The compact cassette(CC) is a self-contained unit in which the magnetic tape is wound onto two reels.

A compact cassette is an audio cassette for use in cassette recorders. The magnetic tape has a width of 3.81 mm on which four tracks are accommodated: Two tracks each in the forward and reverse directions for the left and right stereo channels. The track width is between 0.56 mm and 0.66 mm, and the safety gap between the tracks is approximately the same width.
