computer integrated manufacturing (CIM)

Computer Integrated Manufacturing(CIM) is the epitome of the guidelines of a system provider or user for computer integrated manufacturing.

The integration of area-oriented information systems is intended in particular to reduce the control and communication-related lead times between the product idea and the manufacturing result.

Computer-integrated manufacturing is a holistic approach to integrating workflows for the technical and commercial areas in design and production. This applies equally to design, planning, manufacturing and quality assurance, as well as to the numerical programming of robots and machine tools, and to production planning and control, warehouse logistics and order processing.

Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) comprises the various subsystems for computer-aided design( CAD) for technical design development, computer-aided engineering( CAE) for the calculation and evaluation of products, computer-aided planning( CAP) for production control, and computer-aided manufacturing( CAM) with which production is controlled and monitored.
