The Consortium for On-Board Optics (COBO) develops specifications and standards for exchangeable and interoperable optical modules that can be mounted on printed circuit boards.v The potential applications for the optical modules are aimed at network components in data centers.

The founding members include well-known companies in optical component and transmission technology such as Intel, Cisco, Broadcom, Junipter and many others.
