The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) is an association that, among other things, standardizes the user interface of consumer devices and the remote controls of the end devices.

CEA document 2027B describes how multiple devices can be controlled with a single remote control, thereby reducing the number of remote controls and standardizing their functions. In addition, it should be possible to control any device in the home network via other devices.
