converged secondary storage
Converged Secondary Storage is a Converged Infrastructure(CI) approach to backup systems. It forms a platform of security elements for data protection and storage functions of secondary storage.
Functionalities of converged secondary storage platforms to data stored in secondary storage include data for data protection, recovery procedures, archiving, replication, deduplication, data compression, and encryption. Converged secondary storage provides similar functionality to traditional data protection systems, but often offers greater and easier scalability. In contrast, hyper-converged platforms, hyper-converged infrastructures( HCI), are suitable for virtual machine operations.
