counter mode (encryption) (CTR)
Counter Mode (CTR) is an encryption method in which block ciphers are converted into stream ciphers.
In the counter mode method, a key stream is generated that encrypts the successive values of a counter. Any function that has no repetition for a long period of time can be used as a counter, such as a counter that increments by the value 1. However, such simple incremental counters provide lower encryption security.
