data masking (leakage prevention)

Data masking is a technique used to alienate or anonymize data.

Data masking is characterized by the fact that, unlike encryption, it works with fictitious data instead of the original data, and that the data can be read. Often the data is company, production or personal data.

Data masking is about detecting and preventing data leaks and data loss; it is Data Leakage Protection( DLP) or Data Loss Prevention (DLP). This test method uses fictitious data that is chosen to functionally perform the task. This means that the data format and the functional relationships correspond to the realistic model.
